FRAUD ALERT!

January 20, 2011 – There is a letter circulating to some of our mortgage loan customers like this sample. The letter suggests that you may be entitled to a refund of up to $4800 on your recently refinanced mortgage because of lenders overcharging or miscalculating mortgage loans. The letter asks that you call an 877 number to get further information. When you call this number, they ask for you to send them $149.00 (or some similar amount ) to have a “consumer analysis” done to determine if you’re entitled to some sort of refund.

THIS IS A SCAM! PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OR SEND ANY MONEY.

These “companies” get this information regarding your recent refinanced mortgage from the local Register of Deeds as public filed information. They are opportunistically referencing recent national headlines regarding several of the larger national banks having inadequate documentation as it relates to the service transferring process of mortgage loans. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
